This bottle of George Washington’s Apple Brandy was aged in barrels used for bourbon and is one of a limited number made at Mount Vernon's reconstructed distillery. The distillery's ledgers indicate that Washington produced small amounts of apple brandy in 1798 and 1799. Washington maintained orchards on his estate which provided the apples for his brandy. Plantation records indicate Hewes, Newtown Pippin, and Roxbury Russet apples were some of the varieties used to produce Washington's apple brand.

Today, Mount Vernon distillers use traditional 18th-century methods to make this rare spirit. They grind the grain in Mount Vernon's reconstructed, water-powered gristmill; ferment mash in wooden tubs; and distill in copper pot stills heated by wood fire the brandy is then bottled, labeled, and numbered by hand. Size of bottle: 375 ml. Alcohol content: 40%. Proof: 80 proof.
